Does anyone know Dark Canyon Creek?
« on: January 10, 2017, 08:13:12 PM »
I'm looking at land in TR and found a few acres along Dark Canyon Creek, north of Terlingua. I have not yet been able to find out how far above the stream bed the property goes and I'm concerned about flash floods. Is anyone familiar with this creek?

I wouldn't say many of the streams/creeks on the ranch are "prone" to flash flooding, but I'm sure it happens occasionally. Probably not to the level that some of the Arizona creeks do (3 ft high wall of mud). Try contacting the listing agent or owner and ask. You will likely need a survey anyhow if you're getting financing. What kind of structure are you thinking about? Trailer? Stick house? Rock house? Tent?
