A lil trip.
« on: March 24, 2009, 11:27:31 AM »
On Thursday morning I'm packing up my car and my good good, not-at-all outdoorsey (yet) friend and we're heading out to the Bend to relax and decompress.

Our plan is to head out Thursday morning from Dallas, and taking 20 all the way to 118 and then heading south through the Davis Mountains to Alpine.  If we have time, we're going to stop in Marfa at the Chinati Foundation.  We're staying at the Holland Hotel in the Crows Nest.  We'll probably have dinner at the Eidelweiss and then head up to McDonald Observatory for a star party.

Friday morning we'll head South on 67 and take 170 down to Terlingua, check into La Posada Milagro and then head down to the park for a little day hiking!  We'll be staying in Terlingua Friday night.

Saturday we'll pack up Speedwagon again and head to the Basin to camp and do a bit more day hiking.

We'll be heading back to Dallas Sunday morning!

Sounds like a plan!
The McDonald Observatory is always worth a trip. Forecast is for it to be windy Thursday night...dress warmly...it can be cold up there!
 Have a good trip!

I doublechecked the star party schedule and it seems they don't do them Thursdays. =P  I misread.  Fortunately, this does not hamper our plans at all!
