West Texas road trips.
« on: September 04, 2011, 10:28:31 PM »
We love doing short over nighters out here. There are so many places to visit within 4-5hrs of Midland, we love leaving one morning and making it back the next night. Day trips are a little tough but overnighters are a lot of fun. Any recommended destinations always appreciated.

Some pics from our last roadie.. Midland-Carlsbad-Guadalupes-(overnight at the El Capitan in Van Horn)-Valentine-Marfa-Alpine-Fort Davis-Kent-Midland..

Photo gallerie from the trip out HERE.

A nice weekend or overnight road trip from Midland would be to get yourself  a room at the Chinati Hotsprings. If you have a high clearance vehicle, either on your way there or your return, take FM 2810/Pinto Canyon Road between Ruidosa and Marfa.

We incluced a stay at the Chinati Hotsprings last year at the end of our Big Bend trip.

Many other references to Pinto Canyon Road and the Chinati Hotsprings can be found on this site, just use the search feature in the upper right on the home page.

Enjoy your trip and :welcome:

Oh, and please bring back more of your wonderful photos of the  adventure!

I'll have to try the springs. I have several vehicles to choose from depending on road conditions. Diesel PU for most of our driving (1600 miles range), Extera (4x4), Ford 500 (seldom used)...

There are so many wonderful places to visit out here.
