NEEDED: intel on Smoky Creek water
« on: December 07, 2018, 10:52:12 PM »
An opportunity has arisen for me to (i) solo start at Homer Wilson Overlook next Tuesday AM, (ii) proceed down Smoky Creek, and (ii) exit the trail at Mule Ears parking area on Thursday AM.

I'd like some intl on water sources please.
Leave "quit" at the car.  Embrace the trail as your friend.  Expect to enjoy yourself, and to be amazed.

You will find water probably almost all the way down from the Dodson to Willow spring then dry until mule ears spring.  Check out my trip report from last December where I documented all of those springs.
When are you coming out?  HMoD and I will be coming off the trail Friday and will be at the Starlight that night.  I am headed in today

dprather: As luck would have it, I was just in the process of posting a water report from my hike earlier this week, which included a section of the Smoky Creek trail.  It should be there now.  Hope it helps a little and hope you have a great hike!

Mule Ears:  Looks like we just missed each other again this year!  Hope you have a great hike too!

This is a wonderful time to hike in the Sierra Quemada area.  (Of course, I would say that almost any time, except maybe during the hottest summer months.)
