OML Water Report 12/17-12/20
« on: December 21, 2017, 08:00:42 AM »
Just got off the OML yesterday.

Fresno Creek had some water but the flow was pretty weak. I was able to get good water from it especially ~100 meters down stream of the trail, just prepare to be unimpressed.

Upper Juniper was flowing, about 1 liter/30 seconds.

The pipe was flowing at Boot Springs (1 liter/45 seconds) and there was water in the pools throughout Boot Canyon but not much flow in-between.

On another note, while talking to the ranger during the permit process she said they expect all the sites to fill up from Christmas to New Years and potentially the Dodson, Juniper, and Blue Creek zones.

Sounds like still plenty of water out there.  I am sure the further you go down the Fresno drainage from the Dodson there will be plentiful water, most folks don't bother, their loss.  Thanks for the report!

Yep. I was on the OML last week 12/13-12/15 and can confirm much of the same. The boot pipe had water steadily flowing (30-45 secs/liter). There were also numerous pools upstream (some frozen) that contained signficant water. The Fresno had several deep pools about 50-100 yards south of the Dodson. There were also several tinajas west of the Dodson with water pools.

Here are a couple of photos of the Boot Pipe and overlooking Fresno Creek:

OMG!  I had planned to do OML (my 2nd time) starting 26th.

I guess I will have to  do GUMO instead.
