If it is in Terlingua Ranch, I wouldn't pay 15 cents for the whole thing. :!:

From a bit farther down in the ad:
Quote
1). YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE DOWN PAYMENT:
The Bid for the Down Payment will be subtracted from the Full Purchase Price of $6450.
The Balance will be paid in equal monthly installments over the next 24 months.
The more you bid the less the monthly payment.
There is no balloon and no prepayment penalty.
OR
2). YOU MAY ELECT PAYMENT IN FULL:
A single payment of $5650, which represents a built in $800 discount for the FULL Payment.

So, pay all at once and it's only $282.50 an acre.  It also says it's in the Solitario area of TR.  Annual fees are $142 and property taxes are less than $50 a year.

Seriously, though.  What would you do if you bought land out there?

Unless you were living on it full time, it wouldn't be worth it.  It would just sit there vacant and the local kids would use it as a drinking spot.  I wouldn't want to keep anything of value out there as I'd be afraid someone would loot it and I wouldn't know about it for months.  Or some hippie from California would probably come squat on your land.

Sure, you could use it as a base camp for area explorations.  But there are no shortage of base camps in the area that don't cost 6k.  Of course, if you just wanted to hold onto it until you retured....

Sounds like we could setup an Enron type deal here and get rich, do some tax right offs of losses, etc.  We will setup a company named LM1 - Lost Mine 1, and SE2 - Santa Elena 2, etc.  We will be RICH.

Maybe the Marfa/Alpine/Lajitias land boom will spread to TR.  Invest for the future.  If I lost my job, had an economic depression, then I could move to my land in West Texas and somehow live off of it- eating cactus I guess...
