Big Bend Dark Skies
« on: October 10, 2009, 10:46:37 AM »
In conjunction with the International Year of Astronomy, the 400th anniversary of Galileo and the telescope please join us in the celebration of Dark Sky Month in Alpine Texas. The Big Bend Astronomical Society has established the James T. Walker Dark Sky Fund as a 501(c) with the objective of advancing Dark Sky Awareness in the Big Bend Region. One of our objectives is to raise money to fund the replacement or retrofit of existing non-dark sky friendly lighting with Dark Sky Friendly Lighting.  We have an individual who pledged $1,000.00 in matching funds for the next $1,000 we raise. Tax-deductible contributions can be sent to JTWDSF PO Box 523, Alpine, TX 79831-0523. More information can be found at www.bigbenddarkskies.com
