Poor Shafter doesn't even have a volunteer fire department.  Presidio is a pretty long haul, if I recall, to Shafter.

Too bad the Border Hot Line is so expensive to join.  I'd like to read the police blotters and the stories, but alas at this moment $100 per year for an online subscription is a tad bit too much.
