Veteran's cemetery initiated

ALPINE – Veterans for Peace have inaugurated the Arlington Southwest Cemetery.

The new facility is in a new permanent installation on Highway 90 east.

There was a reading Sunday of all the Texas
military men and women who have died so far in the Iraq War.

“It was a powerful and poignant experience hearing all those names read in silence in the foreground of tombstones,” Max Miller of Marfa said.

Cemeteries like the Arlington, VA, veteran’s cemetery have been placed in other cities by the Veterans for Peace, but the Alpine facility is the only permanent one so far.
