David, where did you come across that old copy of the Lost Mine Trail guide?  It's a classic.

I have that one too, found it on ebay.

I recently picked up a book called "We Come and Go, A Handbook for The Big Bend National Park" by Berta Clark Lassiter.  It's copyright 1949 and signed by the author.  It's gives a good desctiption of the park and outlines it's short history.  I'll post more about it later.
WATER, It does a body good.

Actually, Sarah found this in her Grandma's library.  Her 92 yr old grandma is quite the collector of such things. She lives in Alpine and actually has authored a series of books from her days as the Art Director at Sul Ross. She has much, much more that I'm hoping Sarah and I can scavenge through one day soon. :D

Notice the production values of such a self guided trail book.  Obviously this was in production when the park service actually had money.

Very interesting.  I wonder if the Spanish wore shorts  during the hot months.
