In the last 24 hours we've received 3 inches of rain near the Terlingua Ranch Lodge.  Weather.com predicts 60% chance for tomorrow.  It's soakin' around here.

It's strange, very strange!  :icon_lol:
In another month or so this place will be covered with vegetation.  The hillsides are so green now it hurts my eyes.  :icon_biggrin: The big green, red, and black grasshoppers (we call 'em Generals) are looking for higher ground, hanging off every bush.

Heck!!...next time you report back, you will probably be saying that there are Ponderosa Pines around the Starlite.

Looks like we have good chances of rain for at least the next two weeks.  Be safe at arroyos.   Look and listen before entering. 

Is it just me but does the rain feel more like coastal rain rather than our usual?  Just seems like the drops feel different than what we normaly get.

It turns into mud. Driving on bentonite mud is more fun than you can imagine.

We just got back to our adobe - north of Study Butte - for the first time since spring. 

I'm blown away by the green.  Living in the desert give you a whole new appreciation for rain!

Excellent rain pictures,Voni, the RED lady. If memory does not fail me, you went over to Alaska?...what about some pics with moose's..or them grizzlys ?... :icon_lol:

Homer, let's hope not. :icon_biggrin: I've already had to use my weed whacker twice in a month.  Seriously, all this rain is good for the wells and the flora and fauna.

Glad you enjoyed them.

We did go to Alaska.  Lots of stories to tell and hundreds of pictures.  But that's for another post.  When I get more reliable internet . . .

The green is the coolest!  I too love that wind mill!

Levee Breach Reported in Presidio

NewsWest 9

PRESIDIO - NewsWest 9 has learned of a levee breach near Presidio. 

The Mayor of Presidio tells NewsWest 9 that the breach occured one mile east of the Railroad Bridge.

The breach is under control at this time and the Mayor is asking citizens to not panic, but remain alert.

The Rio Grande has been flooding all this week after water releases in Mexico and rainfall in the area. Flooding is expected to continue for the next several days.

FM 170 from Presidio to Lajitas remains closed due to flooding.
