Did a loop from Guadaulupe Peak to Big Bend NP to Big Bend Ranch, then up through Presidio/Marfa/Ft. Davis/Balmorhea on Sunday; went through all this; was very sad and incredible to see.  Saw many dead cows, burned alive; saw a baseball field in the middle of Ft. Davis totally burned; massive fire; I heard that the fire at one point travelled 20 miles in 90 minutes

So very sad, love that area, praying for the folks out that way, hopefully they can get air tankers flying.

I second this. Sounds like a stressful, dangerous situation for a lot of humans and non-humans.

Incidentally, I just finished a book called Comanche Empire. It's a really well written, academic work, probably the best overall book I've seen on Comancheria.
Anyway, one of the key drivers that brought the Comanche empire to an end was a decade long drought in the mid-1800's. It helped drive the remaining bison out of west Texas, which forced the Comanches into cattle raiding and set the stage for anglos to seize control of the Southern Plains.
I sure hope the current drought doesn't last a decade, because we're not any more immune to such conditions than the Comanche.

The Haze is starting to build up around the Amistad region. Flowing steadily in favor of the prevailing winds, It should be able to be seen by now.

Fort Davis, Alpine, all of Brewster County are taking a big beating. People living near Lubbock , should start to monitor things more closely. It could get very rough out there.

A Giant to the rescue . Check out the .PDF link as well.

Evergreen's International Boing 777 Should put out all of the fires in 18 days, taking water from  Lake Amistad Dam. I have no idea how can a Boeing 777 can do that at all. Check out the video on the link. It is impressive: 76,000 liters of water can be dumped at one site. It should put out any fire in a matter of days.

We have over 100,000 hectares of wildfires burning as we speak. It should come to your aid, pretty soon.

I could not find a video, actually operating in fire conditions or resupplying it's tanks with water. Take in mind, it is a jet and NOT a water landing craft.
Stay thirsty, my friends.

Late Sunday afternoon, AEP Texas crews energized a 2-megawatt mobile generating unit to restore power to approximately 700 customers in the Fort Davis area.

I want to know what a 2-megawatt mobile generating unit looks like.  Thing has to be gargantuan, "they must be giants".    :icon_wink:  Wonder if one of those would power my pop-up camper?   :rolling:

What does one of thees mobile "nuke" stations run off?  Hook it into a natural gas line?  Have a fleet of gasoline/diesel 18 wheelers lined up behind it?

These pictures are surreal,  terrifying and I can't believe the utter devastation.  Man I wish I could help more.

Devastated, to say the least...but still, there is a future. There is always tomorrow.

The sooner that $400,000 dlls a day Evergreen  Waterjet starts to go to work in the area, the better.

Right now the biggest help they need are funds, fencing and feed. There are a lot of cowboys and regular joes volunteering to come out and help with repairs, reinstalling fencing, roundups. The http://jeffdaviscountyrelief.org/ is accepting donations by  mail or online, the Marfa Public Radio website also has info on area banks and businesses accepting donations of money or purchase of feed/fence.

Some buildings were lost, the livestock loss is awful, but when the rain comes it's gonna be the most incredible display - looking forward to that, and recommend anyone who can get out for the rainy season to watch the regrowth.
