trtlrock,

"Well done is better than well said."

But in your case, you've achieved both...and thrown in many great photos as a bonus. What a great accomplishment, thank you for sharing.

with a perfect and very low bow,

Andreas

Thank you much Andreas, and also to all the others who've chimed in!

I'd quote you all individually, but the dreaded iPad and I don't have the best of relationships...

Thanks for the pics!  In particular I loved the ones of Fresno Peak and the flatirons and surrounding area and it makes me want to go back RIGHT NOW!

Thanks trtlrock, that was very enjoyable.  :eusa_clap:  :eusa_dance:
I can't wait (but I will) for the raw photos to be processed so I can enjoy reading it all again with the added visual aids.

I was going to say your pictures more than told your story, then I read this. The pictures reflect a perception one can only get by walking through the desert.  Then the story only gets better.

Thanks Al, that's really nice. Much has been added & edited since I saw your post...

I forgot to say, Thank you!

Nicely done. I bookmarked this for those days when I can't get out and need to take a mental vacation. Thank you.

Awesome adventure!  Must be nice to be able to take that much time off - ya'll must be retired.  Loved the pictures-can't wait to see the rest.  What kind of boots and backpacks are you guys using?

Not retired, just self-employed (Tess as a landscaper has the winters off anyway), and no kids, and no coherent retirement savings...

Asolo boots, ULA pack for Tess, old Mountainsmith for me...

Yeah, really freakin' amazing!
Ah Big Bend, we will soon return to reacquaint ourselves in our ritual of blood, exhaustion and dehydration. How can we resist the temptation to strip ourselves of the maladies of civilization?

Trtlrock, y'all should check out the resole for your Asolo boots from Ricky Mountain Resole in Salida, CO. They are burly soles that will breath new life into your trusted (and broken in) Asolo boots.
