Hope the track was useful. What did you think about the area around the dike?

Oh man, I didn't get that.  I just looked in my junk mail and there is it!  I'll have to compare our tracks to yours to see how closely the followed.

Looks like we went on different sides of the dike.

Great write up, thanks! Sounds like an excellent family outing, so I'm taking notes.

That dike and badland area is one that I had picked out (using Google Earth) for my badlands trip last March. I didn't have enough time to visit there, and I wondered what it was like. I'm glad you got out there so I can actually see what it looks like. Will you also post still photos?

(BTW, check your PM's)

TJ,

Check out my August trip report. Some of the photos are from there. Very good place to visit

Thanks for all the comments on the video!  I had been envisioning that for a few weeks before the trip and had to figure out how to get it all to come together.  I was pretty happy with the result.  I'm actually surprised I didn't get frustrated and ditch the whole effort.

Here are some of my favorite pics from the trip:

One more...my wife insisted on taking the potty with us backpacking.  She carried it so I didn't mind.  My six year old thought it made a good chair.
