Very beautiful; very motivational.
Leave "quit" at the car.  Embrace the trail as your friend.  Expect to enjoy yourself, and to be amazed.

Great trip bk! I love the hikes/trips that have time for smelling the flowers and seeing things. This one seems about perfect for those. The pics of the rain in the distance are wonderful!
 Thx for sharing!!

You're welcome. Yeah, I think the 3 highlights were seeing the Peregrine, the Aspens, and the flower/ orchid or whatever the heck it is. These may have been missed on a death march!

Thanks

I figured out what the flower was - Thanks to the Native Plant Database - Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center

The common name is Desert Savior. It is a succulent. Scientific name Echeveria strictiflora

Awesome report bk. I will look through those pictures many times. I can't remember seeing that much green up around the rim in a long time myself. Amazingly beautiful!

I have that same GPS but I have never used it to track my route. I am assuming you keep it on for the entire hike?  How long do you get on a set of batteries?

I always track. and keep it on. Once I hit my destination I toggle off the track recording function and then power it down. I get about 20 track recording time hours on a pair of alkalines. I use the tracks to refine my topo as required.

Thanks!  I will be using the "track" feature on my next trip.  Fresh batteries in the unit and one extra set and I should be good.  Turn it on and throw in an outside pocket sounds sufficient.
