Leaving in 9 Days
« on: August 26, 2010, 12:29:09 PM »
Headed out for 10 days in the basin and surrounding's areas on Sat Sept 4th and if the wifi is working at the Lodge will try and send back some reports.
Goal one is to hike Emory, my 1st try since triple bypass surgery in sept 2007 that halted a trip to BiBe after taking a physical and discovering I had 3 blocked arteries, 2 - 100% and 1 - 75%, a walking dead man much less hiking.

So a slow and steady pace with lots of water should get us to the top and safely back down. A item off my bucket list.
Then Lost Mine Trail, Windows sunset hike, and maybe the hot springs if life is good after Emory.

Pardon me if you already know this, but don't forget to take good carb/protein snacks and eat often. My kids were amazed how they got their legs back after a short rest and small snack. I always bring an electrolyte drink in addition to water as well. Emory is also 1.6 miles after the trail redux instead of 1. Take your time and have fun!  :icon_biggrin:

thanks everyone for all of your suggestions.  This is our 3rd trip an i think this is the one i am most nervous about.  I'm a person that doesnt sweat and was born that way so i have to be very careful so i will appreciate the info you have provided for my husband.

Jim, yes i believe that is where he is taking us he has done this before this is mine, my brother and my moms first time and i am nervous about the hike back in the dark with the animals and SNAKES more than anythings.  But i am really excited about the trip just worried about weather and animals.
