Great report Ray!
Reading all of the reports about hiking the OML almost make me want to try it. For now, I'll rely on the excellent reports and photos you successful OMLers post for us. Maybe one day....

Ray,
great report and I am really glad you made it all the way around. I also appreciate the frank discussion on preparation and difficulty, it always slips up on you! I too remember that first time cresting that last ridge and seeing the view of Carousel Mtn. and being totally exhausted. I was 16 and pretty tough. I am thinking about doing the OML again in 2013 for the 40th year anniversary of the first time I did it.  :icon_eek:

Thanks again  :eusa_clap:

What we lack in youth and agility, we make up for in determination and treachery (if required)

Absolutely! Determination, planning, cunning, patience and treachery. Especially the treachery part.

You've got a lot of really nice photos. Is there a trip report to go with them? Do you also hike with your camera hanging from your neck? I noticed that I had several photos that looked really similar to some that Walkingman posted with his report so shortened my own by quite a few.

I agree, some really nice pictures sstrong42. It would be great to hear about your trip.  :icon_rolleyes:

I completely disconnected after the trip.  Work had been stressful and I decompressed knowing I'd walk into a firestorm when I got back in the office.  Now that it's over, I'll try to craft up a trip report here over the weekend and post the pics along with a narrative. =)

Quick question for posting the pics, should I upload them to the gallery?  I'm always hesitant to hotlink from Picasa because I've found it to be finicky.

Actually, my camera is just a little Nikon Coolpix P2.  It was a hand-me down and only has a wrist strap!  I keep it in my pocket.  I was influenced by what I was reading on the trip and decided to only take pictures when I was completely moved by what surrounded me and wanted to try to capture what I was feeling.  So I used this as an excuse to stop and take a quick breather and snap some photos.

I'd say give Picasa a try, since you already have the pics uploaded. For this one I right-clicked on the image and copied its URL.

Sweet.  I'll work on crafting an adequate narrative to go along with the pictures this evening or tomorrow.  Ahh the joys of being on-call.

You might want to include a link to each image's webpage, just in case the image doesn't want to show up in the post.

You might also consider checking out http://autostitch.net which was discussed here. It's a great tool for making panos.
